How to Get More Google Reviews for Your Shop (Honestly)
Reviews do two jobs: they help you appear in Google’s map results for “near me” searches, and they convince the person comparing you with the shop next door. Most happy customers never think to leave one, they leave one when asked, at the right moment, with a one-tap way to do it.
1. Get your review link
In your Google Business Profile, find “Ask for reviews” (or “Share review form”) and copy the link. It opens the review box directly.
2. Put it where customers wait
Make a counter poster with a big QR code using our free Google review QR poster, it writes “Review us on Google” in 13 languages. Print A5, laminate it, keep it at the billing counter. Also:
- Add the link to your WhatsApp greeting or after-delivery message.
- Print the QR on your bill or bag.
- Put it on your visiting card.
3. Ask at the happy moment
The moment a customer says “thank you” or “bahut accha laga”, that’s when to ask:
“Thank you! If you have a minute, a Google review really helps a small shop like ours, just scan this.”
“धन्यवाद! अगर आपके पास एक मिनट हो तो Google पर रिव्यू ज़रूर दें, बस ये QR स्कैन करें।”
For delivery and service businesses, send the link on WhatsApp the same day.
4. Follow the rules
Google’s review policy forbids:
- Incentives, discounts, gifts or cashback for reviews.
- Review gating, asking only customers you think are happy.
- Fake reviews, from family, staff or paid services.
Breaking these can get reviews removed or your profile restricted. Ask everyone, offer nothing, and let your service do the work.
5. Reply to every review
- Good review: thank them by name, mention what they bought.
- Bad review: “Sorry about the delay, Mr Verma. We’ve added a second delivery boy for evenings. Please call us on … and we’ll make it right.”
6. Use reviews in your marketing
Share a screenshot of a good review on WhatsApp Status (it’s already public). It reminds others to leave one.
